Living in a Happy Nation

The song from ‘Ace of Base’ do have a nostalgic attire. “Living in a Happy Nation” – What a dream. Though we have reasoned this subject for a long time and also do again, I would like to shout it out again.

Nation? A race of people sharing a common language or geographic. Let me drive a long long time. I have to believe that the scientific evolution of humans from monkeys in this regard since, the concept of Adam and Eve doesn’t fit much. If the first humans are Adam and Eve, then it must be supposed that all humans are their descendants. That means, all humans must be speaking the language what Adam and Eve used to, evolving from a single geographic point to all throughout the empty spaces on the planet. And of course, there will be one race of humans – humans itself.

But it isn’t the case here. Humans evolved in different parts of the planet at different times. Each of these groups used their evolving brains for discoveries and inventions that made life more better. This development of different thoughts , independent of each other led to the evolution of different languages, different cultures , different religions and as these groups grow, they came in contact with the other evolving groups. But at that time, the human brains weren’t evolved to the point to understand that the dark face opposite to them are also of their kind. The fear of differences led fight for survival.

That was beginning of drawing boundaries. Later, the evolution of human sense, led to proper understanding of their requirements and the availabilities on the other side of the line. Thus trade began. Even then, the left out animal nature in humans led him to conquer and grab the resources from the neighboring humans itself.

In the beginning, humans fought with nature and wilderness to ensure his survival. Using the wits and power of thinking, man did survive. But later, the same prowess, made him to fight to prove worth among humans itself, the early stage of war craft. we still fight to prove the dominance we have with respect to the other.

Right now,I believe humans are at the peak of cultural advancement. we all know that all that we need to survive is the survival of the human race. Its not the race, country , language or nationality. Its keeping the life on earth sustained as long as possible. For that, we need to erase the lines drawn in our minds. The separations has to be removed and feeling of one nation has to be imparted in our minds. No one can do it for us. One earth, one nation and different countries for the ease of welfare and administration. No budget for weapons and war. All for humans and all humans for earth. Then I will we are “Living in a Happy Nation”.

Follow The White Rabbit

The movie Matrix was a revolution at the time of its release. The concept, it explained was far too much beyond the thinking horizon of a common man. The movie buff like me, took around 3-4 rounds of the movie to fully understand the story. And once I understood the story perfectly, I realized the inlying thought that the movie tried to convey. Something quite different from the spoken story.

Matrix – A perfect world created for the humans by the machines. Intercepting the human thoughts and hacking it with electric impulses, machines planted the human minds in a perfect cage. A world with order and balance. Machines planted the humans in the dream world, virtually satisfying the humans with all the needs and necessities to contain them for their needs.

Now, lets come back to the real world. Wake up Neo. The world isn’t the same anymore. If we remember the past, a long forgotten past trails behind us. The earth was not created for humans. Nature was evolved with the existence of trees and fauna. Long after the evolution of aqua, and land beasts, followed the great Jurassic age, Monkeys evolved to survive and the humans were developed, not created.

But this is scientific part of the story. If we refer Holy Book, we can see that God made  all his creations in six long days and just a day for the man. So, the entire creativity was spend in beautifying and balancing the ecology. But the man was created so fast in a day. As I believe, man was guaranteed to survive in the beauty and marvelous work of God for certain.

So, as you see, the nature was evolved and man was borne to survive in that. But as time passed, man was not surviving, but tailored the nature for the comfort of his own mind signals. The electric signals from the nerves demanded more comfort and a different perspective to make things faster and accurate. With this, the resources of nature was used not for existence, but in a parasitic way. This is a viral behaviour as Mr Smith says in Matrix.

It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You’re a plague and we are the cure.

we are so lost in the wonderland made by us that we almost lost track of the nature on which we have built upon the dreams. We hate to wake up. We love this harmony of life, this celebration. But, we forget that this melancholy could have a vibration. A vibration so strong that the nature may find a path to its very existence. After all, it’s all about the survival. What if the dying nature make the last attempt to survive? Will that be the end of the humanly infection upon the nature?

Climatic Shifts

The climate in Trivandrum is getting hotter day by day. The days are hotter and humidity is high at night. I have never experienced such drastic climate in this part of India.

Kerala, the state that constitutes Trivandrum popular for its maritime climate and monsoons. But with the global climate shifts, the monsoon rains are diminishing and the rains that used to occur during the months of September and October have also lost its effect in keeping the ground cool till the next monsoon.

The climate in the city is gradually taking a major shift. The shift is so slow that we could hardly notice that in a 2-3 years span.I still remember my childhood days. Sun wasn’t so intolerable then. I used to run and play at school in hot noons and afternoons.  But now, it is almost impossible to go outdoors during daytime. The climatic change in Trivandrum over the last 15 years has shaken me with wonder.

The big picture is even more alarming. The sea level is rising at an alarming rate. The climate is shifting to the extreme ends in almost all parts of the world.

The reasons are all old copy books. We all have learnt that right from schools. Still, the cause persists. Pollution, CO2 emissions etc are unavoidable in today’s world. But it is not impossible to cut it at least by 1% if all of us consider to cut usage of carbon products in day-to-day life.

Going down to the END

The United States Government has often been criticized for refusing to cut down carbon dioxide emission by American factories and automobiles.

Pileup of such carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is held responsible for the average rise in global temperature, which we often mention as Global Warming.

Today, America is responsible for most of the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. American cars, along with American factories, put out more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than all the other countries of the world put together.

Now, it appears that the global warming is hitting hardest in America’s own backyard. Average temperature in Alaska have risen by at least a degree every ten years, for the past thirty years, with the highest increases happening in winter. Such increases in temperature are very damaging for Alaska.

This is the melting parts of the permafrost, which covers most of Alaska.

Permafrost is never more than a few degrees below freezing point.

Thus, even a small rise in average temperatures could bring it close to melting. The most common problem due to this is huge holes on the surface called thermo karsts.

These holes form, when the surface collapses after buried chunks of ice melt. It is costing Alaska millions of dollars,as roads and other property gets damaged., when the ground suddenly disappears. And if countries do not cut down carbon dioxide and other green house emissions, other parts of the Arctic and Antarctic icy wastes could be the next in the line.

2012 : An Awakening

I saw the movie “2012” last week. The visuals were amazing. The hard work of all the graphics and animation engineers have paid off. But beyond that spectacular visualization of the D-day, there are few messages that the movie is trying to convey.

The end : How it would be? We have been living and planning future for generations to generations. In that run, we have always considered earth as a constant factor. Something that was there, is present and will be there. What if the earth gets sick? How will we get affected. Humans have researched pathology and discovered many viruses and cures for them. Its all based on the concept that human body is a living entity and all that hinders its life or growth is a bacteria or virus. Now if earth is a living body, what are humans? It’s plain that we are the most devastating virus for earth. I would like to comment the words from the movie Matrix.

I’d like to share a revelation I’ve had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you’re not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to another area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we … are the cure.

This could be considered from a earth’s perspective. If earth finds a way to completely remove its destructing pathogens, I believe it’s the end of human race. From school days, I have heard a story of birds sitting on buffaloes. My mother told me that the birds eat away the worms on the buffalo’s skin and from the surroundings. It’s the reason that buffalo doesn’t get mad at the bird sitting on its top. I think its already late to have the humans behave to earth as the bird so that both can co-exist in this centuries old equilibrium. But as the saying goes,

Better late than never….

The 15 most toxic places to live

I read a shocking tribute to Mother nature in MNN. Man’s encroachment and attrocities to nature has always been peek high. We always close our eyes to this reality, the reality that we are killing nature every moment. Some of the extremes are captured by images which are listed below. The images really shows the gravity of the situation.

Citarum River, Indonesia

The Citarum has been called the world’s most polluted river. Around five million people live in the river’s basin, and most of them rely on its flow for their water supply.

Chernobyl, Ukraine

Chernobyl, Ukraine

Chernobyl is the town in northern Ukraine home to the Chernobyl disaster of 1986, the worst nuclear power plant accident in history. Once home to more than 14,000 residents, the town remains mostly uninhabited and unsafe today due to extensive radioactive contamination.

Linfen, China

Linfen, China

Linfen has more air pollution than any other city in the world. Sitting at the heart of China’s coal belt, smog and soot from industrial pollutants and automobiles blacken the air at all hours. It is said that if you hang your laundry here, it will turn black before it dries.
